What are the factors that influence engineers’ choices for adding elements that make a building more resistant to earthquakes?
One factor that influences engineers' choices is money. Most engineers are on a budget and cannot afford many things. Another thing that influences engineers' choices is the seismic waves. Different seismic waves cause very different motions. Engineers should focus their elements that make buildings more earthquake resistant on stopping the motion from the seismic wave that most often occurs in that area from damaging the building too bad. The final thing that could influence engineers' choices is time. They need to be aware of how much time they have when they are planning so they don't run out in the middle of building something.
