Red Fox Survival Adaptations

  1. The red fox will store extra food by digging a hole in the ground and burying it to save for later or when there isn't enough food. They will often mark the spot at their's by urinating on top so other animals know to stay away.
  2. The red fox has a very strong sense of smell, hearing and vision. This makes it easier for the red foxes to hunt for food because they can catch small movements.
  3. The red fox not only are very fast at running (they can run up to 30 miles and hour) but also have a lot of stamina. Their long legs help them run more quickly. The red fox will vomit when being chased to empty their stomach and become lighter and more agile. They will also run through water when being chased to cover their scent.
  4. The red fox have sharp claws that can help them dig their dens and holes in the ground when burying food. Their claws can can also help them kill their prey.
  5. The red fox have sharp teeth that help them shred and tear food. They are omnivores so their sharp teeth help them eat both meat and plants.
